Universal Building Materials LLC (UBM), Houston’s builder’s material supplier, will be hosting its ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 10:30 am CT to celebrate the opening of a new store in The Woodlands area.

Jhanz Zavala, Vice President, explains, “we’ve seen Houston grow! New communities are being developed, roofing companies have more work and we are simply running out of space.”

With many years in the building material industry, UBM has witnessed Houston’s growth! With the emergence of new communities being developed, increased demand for roofing services and the limitation of inventory storage space, UBM has decided to open a new location in The Woodlands area.

As Houston continues to welcome new residents and existing resident families are growing, investors and developers are building new residential communities or multi-family residences. Per the Greater Houston Partnership, metro Houston “added almost 200,00 residents last year [bringing] its population to 7.8 million. ¹ ” New single-family homes, neighborhood communities, duplex and apartments are being developed throughout Houston and extending outward into Conroe, TX.

With so much construction happening, roofing companies are on the rise, not only install asphalt-based roof tops, but also maintain existing roof tops. Houston’s dynamic weather conditions, such as hail, snow, hurricanes and tornadoes, are increasing the workload of roofing companies to repair many rooftops. The Better Business Bureau alone has identified more than 4,200 roofing contractors in Houston, TX ² .

Because of the increase in demand for construction work in Houston, UBM has been able to supply demand to its long term residential and business customers. Even after leasing nearby properties, UBM is limited with inventory storage space. The eight-plus (8+) acres footprint at 903 Hodgkins isn’t big enough to store all UBM’s inventory.

As a result, UBM will open a new location on July 1, 2025. The new store will be located at 23300 N Fwy Service Rd, Spring, TX 77373. UBM’s new location will sell asphalt roofing, commercial roofing (TPO), and roofing accessories items.

UBM will offer major roofing shingle manufacturing brands such GAF, IKO, Owens Corning, Tamko, CertainTeed, Atlas and many more. Various colors in various years will be available. UBM is willing to match or beat any competitor’s pricing if provided with a competing quote. In addition, UBM offers fast delivery, delivering material the same day or within 2 hours if provided by a certain time frame.

UBM will also offer sheetrock, plywood and fencing material to customers.
